Gestamp has inaugurated its fifth production facility in India at Bhagapura, Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 523.7 crore across the first two phases of the project. The facility will manufacture advanced body-in-white (BiW) components as the company strengthens its presence in India.
Located in Gujarat, one of India’s major automotive manufacturing hubs, the new plant is equipped with two hot-stamping lines, a laser cutting line and welding cells for assembly operations. The facility currently employs around 240 people and has a manufacturing capacity of 31,790 square metres, with scope for further expansion subject to approvals and market demand.
The Bhagapura facility is designed to produce advanced BiW components as well as products from Gestamp’s Ges-Gigastamping family. These lightweight components are intended to support vehicle efficiency, lower CO₂ emissions, improve safety and simplify assembly processes.
The company has also incorporated energy-efficiency measures at the facility, including a monitoring system designed to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in energy consumption. Gestamp plans to enter into agreements to purchase electricity certified as originating from renewable sources.
“India is a key strategic priority for Gestamp. After two decades here, we have established ourselves as a trusted technology partner for both domestic and international automakers operating in the country,” said Francisco J. Riberas, Executive Chairman of Gestamp.
The investment forms part of Gestamp’s selective global investment strategy, with a focus on growth markets while containing overall capital expenditure. India remains an important market for the company, with light vehicle production forecast to reach 7.8 million units by 2030, according to S&P Global Mobility projections cited by Gestamp.
Gestamp’s revenue in India has increased by more than 80 per cent over the past five full financial years, reaching €245 million at the end of 2025.
