Vijay Pasupathy Appointed CEO of N.A.N. Silox GreenMet

N.A.N. Silox GreenMet has appointed Vijay Pasupathy as Chief Executive Officer, bringing more than two decades of experience in industrial strategy and operations to the joint venture as it advances plans for a major lithium-ion battery recycling and critical metals recovery facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Announced on 14 October 2026, the appointment comes as the company moves forward with its planned ₹1,400 crore facility at Naidupeta. In his new role, Pasupathy will oversee the plant’s development and commissioning while driving the company’s expansion into precursor cathode active material (pCAM) and cathode active material (CAM) manufacturing.

The appointment places experienced industrial leadership at the centre of a project designed to connect battery recycling with the production of materials required for new batteries.

Leading the Next Phase of Industrial Development

Pasupathy brings more than two decades of experience across industrial strategy and operations. His previous professional experience includes serving as Executive Vice President at Epsilon Advanced Materials, alongside senior roles at Orbia and EY.

At N.A.N. Silox GreenMet, his responsibilities will centre on translating the company’s investment plans into industrial execution. This includes overseeing the Naidupeta facility and advancing the business’s planned downstream expansion into engineered battery materials.

The mandate spans multiple stages of the battery materials value chain, requiring coordination across project development, plant execution, processing technology and future manufacturing capabilities.

A ₹1,400 Crore Battery Recycling Facility in Andhra Pradesh

N.A.N. Silox GreenMet is developing a lithium-ion battery recycling and critical metals recovery facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. The company announced that it had received Consent to Establish approval and was moving ahead with the project in October 2026.

The facility is designed for an ultimate annual capacity of 40,000 tonnes of battery shredding and 20,000 tonnes of hydrometallurgical processing, with capacity to be deployed in phases.

The planned process will recover valuable materials from used lithium-ion batteries and produce battery-grade metal salts. These recovered materials can serve as inputs for further processing into materials used in battery manufacturing.

The project represents an investment in domestic processing infrastructure at a time when battery materials are becoming increasingly important to electric vehicles, energy storage and the broader clean energy economy.

Connecting Recycling with Battery Materials Manufacturing

A central part of the company’s strategy is its planned expansion beyond recycling and metal recovery into precursor cathode active material and cathode active material manufacturing.

Precursor cathode active material, or pCAM, is an intermediate used in the production of cathode active material, or CAM, which forms a key component of lithium-ion battery cells.

Developing capabilities across these stages could connect recovered metals more directly with downstream battery materials production. Such integration can create opportunities to strengthen domestic processing capabilities and improve the availability of materials for India’s growing battery ecosystem.

The company is also pursuing global technology partnerships to support its planned downstream expansion.

A Joint Venture Focused on the Battery Value Chain

N.A.N. Silox GreenMet is a 50:50 joint venture between India’s N.A.N. GreenMet and Belgium-based Silox Group. The partnership combines an Indian industrial platform with Silox’s expertise in hydrometallurgical processing and high-purity metal extraction.

The venture’s plans extend beyond recovering materials from end-of-life batteries. By developing downstream manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to establish a more integrated presence across battery recycling and materials production.

The approach addresses an important industrial challenge: creating the infrastructure and processing capabilities needed to recover critical materials and prepare them for reuse in advanced manufacturing.

Building Domestic Capabilities for India’s Battery Industry

As electric mobility and energy storage develop, access to battery materials and processing technologies is becoming an important consideration for industrial supply chains. Recycling can contribute to resource recovery, while downstream processing can help convert recovered materials into inputs for further manufacturing.

However, establishing such a value chain requires significant investment, technical expertise, consistent feedstock availability and effective execution across multiple processing stages.

The Naidupeta project is intended to build capacity in battery shredding and hydrometallurgical processing, with the company planning further investment in pCAM and CAM manufacturing. Its progress will be relevant to the wider development of India’s battery materials ecosystem.

Leadership for the Road Ahead

Vijay Pasupathy’s appointment as CEO marks a leadership milestone for N.A.N. Silox GreenMet as it advances from project development towards large-scale industrial execution.

His experience across strategy and operations will be relevant to the development of the Naidupeta facility and the company’s planned expansion into battery materials manufacturing.

As India continues to develop its electric mobility and energy storage industries, projects that connect critical material recovery with downstream processing will be an important part of the wider industrial landscape. N.A.N. Silox GreenMet’s progress will be closely tied to its ability to execute its investment plans and establish capabilities across the battery materials value chain.
