Anuj Somani Elevated to Head-Integrated Marketing and Performance at Volvo Car India

Volvo Car India has elevated Anuj Somani to Head – Integrated Marketing and Performance, recognising his experience across brand strategy, retailer marketing, digital channels and integrated marketing operations. He assumed the position in September 2026, marking a further step in his career with the Swedish luxury automotive brand.

Somani’s elevation comes after more than five years at Volvo Car India, where he has progressed through roles spanning brand marketing, retailer marketing and broader marketing operations. His expanded responsibilities bring together integrated marketing and performance-focused initiatives in a market where digital engagement, brand differentiation and customer experience are increasingly important to premium automotive businesses.

Expanding Marketing Leadership at Volvo Car India

Before his latest elevation, Somani led Marketing Operations across Brand, Retailer, Digital and PR from April 2025 to August 2026. In this role, his remit covered multiple marketing functions, connecting brand strategy and retailer engagement with digital channels and public relations.

He initially joined Volvo Car India in October 2021 as Senior Marketing Manager – Brand. In April 2024, he progressed to Senior Marketing Manager – Brand and Retailer Marketing, further broadening his experience across brand-building and retailer-facing initiatives.

His move to Head – Integrated Marketing and Performance builds on this progression, bringing together different aspects of marketing under a wider leadership responsibility.

A Career Spanning Automotive and Consumer-Focused Brands

Somani brings more than 16 years of professional experience across automotive, manufacturing and marketing communications. Before joining Volvo Car India, he was associated with LIXIL, where he served as Leader – Marketing Communications for SATO from February 2019 to September 2021.

Earlier, he worked at VE Commercial Vehicles as Manager – Marketing Communications between October 2017 and January 2019. His experience in the commercial vehicle sector added to his understanding of automotive markets and marketing communications.

A significant chapter in his career was his nearly six-year tenure at Mahindra & Mahindra, where he served as Brand Manager from October 2011 to September 2017. His responsibilities included brand planning, customer segmentation, product positioning, competitive analysis, pricing and brand budget management.

He began his career at Autocop India as Assistant Marketing Manager, serving from July 2010 to September 2011. Across these roles, his experience has covered brand development, market understanding, positioning and integrated marketing initiatives.

Integrated Marketing in a Changing Automotive Landscape

The automotive marketing landscape is evolving alongside changes in consumer expectations, digital discovery and the growing importance of connected customer experiences. For premium automotive brands, communicating product value increasingly requires coordination across brand storytelling, digital engagement, retailer touchpoints and performance-oriented marketing.

An integrated approach helps align these channels around a consistent brand proposition while supporting measurable engagement. Somani’s experience across brand marketing, retailer marketing, digital channels and PR provides a foundation for his expanded responsibilities at Volvo Car India.

His elevation also reflects the broader importance of marketing leadership in a competitive automotive market, where brand perception and customer engagement remain central to how manufacturers connect with prospective buyers.

Continuing the Journey at Volvo Car India

With his appointment as Head – Integrated Marketing and Performance, Anuj Somani continues his journey at Volvo Car India in a role that brings together key areas of marketing. His progression within the organisation, supported by earlier experience at Mahindra & Mahindra, VE Commercial Vehicles and LIXIL, represents a career built across automotive marketing and brand communications.

The appointment adds to the leadership developments shaping India’s automotive industry, where marketing strategy and customer engagement remain important elements of brand growth.
