JSW MG Motor unveils MG ADAPT for multi-energy vehicles

JSW MG Motor India has unveiled MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology), described by the company as India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform.

Designed as a future-ready modular architecture, MG ADAPT supports multiple energy solutions, including Electric Vehicles (EVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Range Extender Electric Vehicles (REEVs).

Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said MG ADAPT marks an important milestone in the company’s New Energy Vehicle journey and will serve as the technological backbone for its future products.

At the core of MG ADAPT is an Integrated Technology Ecosystem developed for hybrid applications. The system combines a dedicated hybrid engine, dedicated battery system, a 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and an Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission.

An intelligent energy management system coordinates these components to optimise the interaction between the engine, battery, and electric motor, aiming to improve efficiency, performance, drivability, and driving comfort.

The dedicated hybrid engine has been developed specifically for hybrid applications to deliver higher thermal efficiency and lower fuel consumption. The dedicated battery system is designed to provide electric response, enhanced safety and efficient operation.

The compact 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit helps simplify system complexity while supporting performance and efficiency. The Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission is designed to provide seamless power delivery and faster response.

MG ADAPT’s Intelligent Energy Management System continuously analyses driving conditions and selects an appropriate operating strategy through four drive modes: Pure Electric Drive, Series Hybrid Drive, Parallel Hybrid Drive and Engine Direct Drive.

The platform also supports Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology. In this configuration, the electric motor powers the wheels while a petrol engine functions as a generator to recharge the battery when required.

Through its modular architecture and multi-energy capabilities, MG ADAPT is positioned to support JSW MG Motor India’s expanding New Energy Vehicle portfolio and its focus on efficient, adaptable and sustainable mobility solutions.
