Fresh Bus has launched a Bengaluru–Hyderabad electric AC sleeper bus service, marking the company’s entry into long-haul intercity transportation with a focus on ultra-fast charging and sustainable mobility.
The new service covers more than 600 kilometres between the two technology and business hubs and introduces Fresh Bus’s electric intercity operations to a longer-distance corridor. The company plans to use ultra-fast charging halts during the journey to support efficient operations.
The service will operate with 13.5-metre all-sleeper AC electric buses equipped with 36 sleeper berths. Fresh Bus expects the service to cater to around 18,000 passengers a month once fully deployed, with initial occupancy projected at approximately 80 per cent and maturity occupancy targeted at around 90 per cent.
Sudhakar Chirra, Founder and CEO of Fresh Bus, said the Bengaluru–Hyderabad corridor represents an important step in expanding the company’s electric intercity network beyond shorter routes. He added that the company aims to establish a scalable operating model for long-distance electric bus travel that can be extended to other high-demand routes.
Fresh Bus says the Bengaluru–Hyderabad service will feature ultra-fast charging stops along the route. According to the company, it will be the first intercity electric bus operator to deploy this charging technology on the corridor. A mid-journey halt will also provide passengers with access to restrooms and an opportunity to take a break during the journey.
The route is expected to serve a diverse passenger base, including technology professionals, students, leisure travellers and people travelling to visit friends and family. The buses deployed on the route will feature 36 sleeper berths, air conditioning, individual reading lights and passenger charging points. Fresh Bus will also provide bedsheets, pillows and blankets, along with snack boxes and water bottles for passengers.
Safety features include fire extinguishers, emergency exits, emergency hammers and CCTV cameras. The company has also stated that its operations will include speed-governed driving and alcohol checks for bus captains.
Fresh Bus currently operates multiple intercity routes and has served more than 25 lakh passengers across its network, according to company information. It plans to add further services connecting Bengaluru and Hyderabad as it expands its electric mobility footprint. Tickets for the new service will be available through the Fresh Bus app and website, as well as leading online travel agencies.
The company currently operates more than 80 buses across 18 routes and has outlined plans to expand its electric intercity network across South India. The Bengaluru–Hyderabad service is positioned as a key step towards developing a scalable model for long-distance electric bus travel.
