Mahindra & Mahindra Appoints Deepak S as Head of Outbound Logistics Plant Operations

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited has appointed Deepak S as Head of Outbound Logistics Plant Operations for its Automotive and Farm Equipment Business, marking his move into a leadership role focused on finished-vehicle movement and logistics execution.

Deepak brings experience across automotive manufacturing, electric mobility, supply operations and logistics management. His professional journey includes roles at Ather Energy and Maruti Suzuki India Limited, alongside earlier experience in industrial supply-chain management and international operations.

The appointment places outbound logistics at the centre of his responsibilities, connecting manufacturing operations with the downstream processes that move finished vehicles through distribution networks towards customers.

Strengthening the Automotive Logistics Chain

Outbound logistics is a critical link between vehicle production and market delivery. It involves coordinating finished-vehicle dispatches, transportation arrangements, plant-level processes and distribution requirements to ensure vehicles move efficiently from manufacturing facilities to their intended destinations.

For automotive manufacturers, effective logistics execution depends on close coordination between production schedules, vehicle readiness, transport capacity and downstream distribution. Disruptions at any stage can affect dispatch timelines and the flow of finished vehicles through the supply chain.

In his new position at Mahindra, Deepak will lead outbound logistics plant operations, bringing operational coordination and supply-chain execution into focus. His responsibilities sit at the intersection of plant performance, transportation planning and finished-vehicle distribution.

Experience Across Automotive Manufacturing and Electric Mobility

Before joining Mahindra & Mahindra, Deepak served as Head of Logistics at Ather Energy. His responsibilities included international forwarding and logistics operations, as well as upstream and downstream logistics for completely built units and parts businesses.

He previously held roles including Lead – Supply Operations and Senior Manager – Logistics at Ather Energy. These assignments gave him experience across logistics execution and supply operations within the electric mobility ecosystem.

Earlier, Deepak worked at Maruti Suzuki India Limited as Manager – Logistics Vertical. His career also includes a supply-chain management role at Modine Manufacturing Company and international operations experience at Torrent Pharmaceuticals.

This professional background spans established automotive manufacturing, electric two-wheelers and industrial operations, bringing together experience across different supply-chain environments.

The Operational Importance of Outbound Logistics

Vehicle logistics extends beyond transportation alone. It requires the alignment of manufacturing output, dispatch readiness, carrier availability, vehicle handling and distribution planning. The ability to coordinate these activities is central to maintaining a consistent flow of finished vehicles across the supply chain.

As automotive distribution networks become increasingly complex, manufacturers continue to focus on process discipline, operational visibility and the effective use of technology to support logistics planning. Better coordination across plants and logistics partners can help identify bottlenecks and improve the management of vehicle movements.

Deepak’s new role places these operational requirements within a dedicated leadership mandate. Specific performance targets or initiatives under his leadership have not been publicly detailed.

Deepak S’s Next Chapter at Mahindra

The appointment marks the next stage in Deepak’s career across automotive logistics and supply-chain operations. His experience at Ather Energy and Maruti Suzuki provides exposure to both electric mobility and established vehicle manufacturing environments.

At Mahindra & Mahindra, his responsibilities will centre on outbound logistics plant operations—a function that links manufacturing output with the movement of vehicles through the distribution chain.

The appointment also highlights the importance of logistics leadership within the automotive sector, where efficient coordination between plants, transportation networks and distribution channels remains integral to vehicle delivery and overall supply-chain execution.
