Tata Motors has launched the Aeris compact sedan in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.29 lakh, expanding its passenger vehicle portfolio with a new model positioned in the sub-four-metre sedan segment. The Aeris is available exclusively for individual customers, while fleet buyers will continue to have access to the existing Tigor and Xpres models.
The Aeris is offered in five trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished, with both petrol and CNG powertrain options. The exterior adopts a notchback-inspired roofline and features a wide lower grille, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, textured wheel arch cladding, chrome door handles, a dual-tone black roof and a shark-fin antenna. Buyers can choose from Nitro Crimson, Dandeli Drizzle, Pure Grey, Daytona Grey, Dune Glow and Pristine White exterior shades.
Power comes from Tata Motors’ 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine. In petrol guise, the engine produces 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque and is available with either a five-speed manual or five-speed automated manual transmission. The CNG version develops 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm and is offered with the same transmission choices. The CNG model uses a twin-cylinder tank arrangement and provides 419 litres of usable boot space, while the petrol version gets a 35-litre fuel tank.
Inside, the Aeris features ventilated front leatherette seats, a factory-fitted digital video recorder dashcam, a blind-view monitor and a dual smartphone deck with wireless charging. Higher variants also receive an AMT rotary selector and paddle shifters. The cabin gets a 26.03 cm touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.7 cm digital instrument cluster, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a six-speaker audio system, automatic climate control and rear air-conditioning vents. The car also offers 65W USB-C charging ports for both front and rear occupants.
The Aeris measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,684 mm in width and 1,532 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Its suspension setup comprises an independent lower-wishbone MacPherson strut arrangement at the front and a semi-independent closed-profile twist beam at the rear. Braking duties are handled by front disc and rear drum brakes, while wheel options range from 14-inch steel wheels on the entry variant to 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on higher trims.
Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, along with electronic stability programme, ABS, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Tata Motors has also incorporated additional safety measures into the CNG version, including an integrated single ECU, direct CNG ignition, leak detection technology and enhanced rear crash protection structures.
The Aeris petrol range starts at Rs 5.29 lakh for the Smart manual variant and extends to Rs 8.19 lakh for the Accomplished manual version. Petrol AMT variants are priced from Rs 6.69 lakh to Rs 8.74 lakh. The CNG range starts at Rs 6.29 lakh for the Smart manual and goes up to Rs 9.19 lakh for the Accomplished manual, while CNG AMT variants are priced between Rs 7.69 lakh and Rs 9.74 lakh.
With its combination of petrol and CNG powertrains, multiple transmission choices, connected technology and standard safety equipment, the Aeris adds another option to Tata Motors’ compact passenger vehicle line-up while targeting buyers looking for a feature-rich sedan in the sub-four-metre category.
