Spark Minda has appointed Geetika Mishra as Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) at its Group Corporate Office, strengthening the group’s leadership across procurement, materials management and strategic sourcing. Mishra brings more than 25 years of experience in automotive procurement, supplier management and supply-chain operations, including over 18 years with the Motherson Group.
Her appointment comes as automotive component manufacturers navigate increasingly complex supply chains, evolving technology requirements and the need to balance quality, cost competitiveness and reliable sourcing. At Spark Minda, her responsibilities span Group Materials, sourcing strategy, supplier ecosystem development, cost competitiveness, electronics, process automation and capability building.
A Career Built Across Automotive Procurement and Supply Chains
Mishra’s professional experience spans automotive manufacturing, strategic sourcing and procurement leadership across major industry organisations. Her career includes roles at Motherson Group, Maruti Suzuki and Hero Honda, giving her experience across different parts of the automotive supply chain.
During her more than 18 years at Motherson Group, she worked across businesses, geographies and teams while taking on increasingly complex responsibilities. Her experience includes procurement strategy, supplier engagement, cost optimisation and process transformation.
Her earlier experience at Maruti Suzuki and Hero Honda also connects her career with India’s automotive manufacturing and sourcing ecosystem. This combination of OEM and automotive supplier experience is relevant to procurement functions that must coordinate business requirements with supplier capabilities, product specifications and manufacturing priorities.
Expanding Procurement Beyond Traditional Sourcing
Procurement in the automotive components industry extends beyond negotiating prices and managing purchase orders. It increasingly involves supplier development, materials planning, cost management, quality requirements and coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
For diversified automotive component groups, these responsibilities can become more complex as product portfolios expand and component technologies evolve. Procurement teams must evaluate supplier capabilities, maintain sourcing resilience and support the timely availability of materials while managing commercial and operational priorities.
At Spark Minda, Mishra’s group-level mandate brings these areas together under a broader procurement and materials agenda. Her responsibilities also include strengthening supplier relationships and developing procurement capabilities across the organisation.
Electronics and Process Automation in Focus
The increasing electronic content of modern vehicles is reshaping automotive component supply chains. Components associated with vehicle electronics, connected systems, sensors and other technology-led applications require close coordination between suppliers, engineering teams and manufacturing operations.
Spark Minda operates across multiple automotive component and systems categories, making supplier capability and technology readiness relevant to its wider business. Mishra’s responsibilities around electronics and process automation place these areas within the scope of the group’s procurement leadership.
Process automation and standardisation can also help organisations improve consistency in procurement workflows, strengthen governance and support better visibility across sourcing and materials operations. Capability building remains another part of her mandate, with a focus on developing the people and processes required to support procurement objectives.
A Listening-Led Approach to the New Role
In her announcement, Mishra said her initial priority would be to understand Spark Minda’s business, people and existing priorities. She highlighted the importance of listening to teams, understanding different perspectives and learning from people closest to the business before identifying opportunities for improvement.
This approach places organisational understanding at the start of her new role. It also reflects the cross-functional nature of procurement, where effective decisions depend on coordination among sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, finance and supplier teams.
Strengthening Spark Minda’s Procurement and Materials Leadership
Mishra’s appointment brings extensive automotive procurement experience to Spark Minda’s group-level leadership. Her responsibilities combine sourcing strategy and materials management with supplier ecosystem development, electronics, process automation and capability building.
As automotive component manufacturers continue to respond to changing technology requirements and supply-chain demands, procurement remains an important link between product development, manufacturing efficiency, supplier performance and cost competitiveness. Mishra’s new role places these priorities at the centre of Spark Minda’s procurement agenda.
