Tesla has expanded its presence in South India with the opening of an Experience Centre at Express Avenue Mall in Chennai and a Tesla-approved Collision Centre in Poonamallee.
Located on Pattullos Road, the Chennai Experience Centre will provide customers across Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu with access to Tesla vehicles and local retail and after-sales support. Customers can view the company’s electric vehicles, schedule test drives, place orders and arrange vehicle deliveries through the facility.
The new Poonamallee facility adds dedicated collision repair and servicing capabilities to Tesla’s local network. It will provide Tesla parts, trained technicians, vehicle diagnostics, collision repair and bodywork carried out according to the company’s specified repair processes.
Tesla’s Chennai Experience Centre will also support vehicle consultations, test drives, delivery assistance and servicing, giving customers access to multiple aspects of the ownership journey through the company’s local presence.
The company currently offers the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India, featuring a WLTP range of up to 500 km and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The five-seat electric SUV offers up to 2,138 litres of storage capacity and includes power-folding seats.
Tesla also sells the Model Y L, an all-wheel-drive electric SUV with a three-row, six-seat configuration. The model offers a WLTP range of up to 681 km, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and provides up to 2,539 litres of cargo capacity.
Both models support over-the-air software updates and offer access to Grok, Tesla’s AI assistant, which is available in multiple Indian languages including Tamil, Hindi and Marathi.
With the Chennai addition, Tesla’s Experience Centre network in India now covers Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram. The expansion adds to the company’s customer-facing and service infrastructure as it continues to build its presence in the Indian electric vehicle market.
